The Very Best Gift

The Very Best Gift

On a cold and deep dark night, Beneath a star lit sky,
A child was born onto this world,
To save us, you and I.
No trumpet blast, no fanfare wild, Would usher in his birth,
Just cattle lowing and oxen sleeping, Welcomed him to earth.
And at his entrance, lowly at best,
The angels still did sing,
Though swaddled in rags, in a manger laid, He was, in fact, a king.
And the angels spoke to the shepherds, Who were huddled to stay warm,
And they left their sheep in the fields asleep, To see this baby born.
The wise men came from miles away, By following a star,
To worship him and bring him gifts,
Of Frankincense, Gold and Myrrh.
Christ chose to leave his realm on high,
To walk where we sinners trod,
To be the savior of our souls,
To live the will of God.
He came to give us peace and grace,
And to show us what true love is,
And to humbly serve those, who do not deserve, To give up a life...... His.
What an amazing gift God gave to us!
He is beyond our wildest dreams!
Jesus, the Christ, is the very best gift, That anyone will ever receive.
And we can choose to accept it,
To rejoice with open hearts,
And when we do, we will find,
That’s when Christmas really starts.
He is the gift that keeps on giving,
He’s the one Emmanuel,
The most wondrous gift, oh yes he is! Wrapped in the Father’s love.
